GMTA, formerly known as American Wera, was founded in 1991 as the U.S. subsidiary of Profilator GmbH, based in Wuppertal, Germany. The company is headquartered in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Our technology partners specialize in providing engineered solutions to produce components for Powertrain and Propulsion systems within Automotive, Agriculture, Construction, Industrial, and the Wind & Energy industries.
Applications include green turning, gear cutting (power skiving, hobbing, shaping, broaching), along with hard finishing technologies such as turning, grinding (cylindrical, profile, gear) honing, and polishing. Additional offerings include multi-spindle horizontal, deep hole drilling, gun drills and traveling column machining centers. With over 500 machines installed in North America, GMTA is a market force in precision workpiece and specialty markets such as gear manufacturing. Wherever accuracy is a must, GMTA has the right solution.
Standing behind every machine we sell are the service and application engineering departments of GMTA, a recognized leader in supplying metal cutting & metal forming equipment solutions to North America. The equipment is supported by offices located in Ann Arbor, Michigan and Queretaro, Mexico. Engineering the right solution to meet the application is often just the beginning.
